    I was under the impression that the BiTDI was meant to reduce the turbo lag significantly but in mine there is a distinct 1 second or so delay before anything happens. It is not too far off my previous 2.0 TDI, other than the Quattro not losing traction.

    Yes there is some lag. You can prevent it by using the paddles and having the engine in its power band, which is pretty wide.

    Not all of it is turbo lag either, some is gearbox. If you're driving along leisurely and suddenly floor the accelerator when you're in 6th at 1100 rpm, it's going to take a second to suss it out.

    The gearbox will learn your behaviour too. If you always drive fast and rev high, have it in dynamic and it will learn over time and drop down much quicker. I drive mine in individual now with comfort on the throttle most of the time because dynamic became too "eager".
