    hello.

my first post... only had the car a week and a half!

toward the end of my journey home today the little orange engine management light came on. as far as i can tell the car drives and sounds exactly the same...

after a bit of reading on here it seems its likely to be a fault with the fuel mixture??

I know you cant tell me more without knowing the code...

the car is going to a garage tomorrow so i will get the faults read then.

Just wanted to check that i am ok driving the car with this light on. when starting the car the OK light comes up as normal. am i right in saying that if it was a serious problem the car would 'limp' home rather than drive normally?

    Thanks,
    Chris

the problem may be anything but not serious if the car is driving ok. have the fault codes read and see what shows up. ive seen skoda octavias with the light on and it was no brake lights. audi a4 with a faulty oxygen probe. common faults on audi and vw is the air flow meter. dont know if this helps but let us know after the garage has found the fault.

    thanks for you help mate

turned out to be an air leak from one of the pipes around the turbo. the mechanic took the pipes off the turbo and cleaned them up, re-sealed them and so far no more light! fingers crossed

so your right... can be anything really!
