Finally took delivery of my new 2.0 Ultra Avant this morning. Should have been yesterday but an admin error meant that is was not taxed until today. Still dealer stepped up tot he plate admitted the error and made sure I was not disadvantaged by the error. Meant that for 24 hours I had a Daytona 214 Quattro Avant S-line.

Was seriously impressed by the performance of the 214 Quattro and those of you fortunate to have the more powerful engine or even the Bi-TDi must be risking their licence every time they go out. Loved the colour, same it is S-Line only. One of the reasons I have never got an S-Line myself is that I have always felt that the black headlining made the interior too dark. The loan car confirmed that thought and I was glad to get back to the lighter SE interior (still with black seats and carpets) this morning. Also the loan car had the tech pack and whilst it is better than the standard system and loved the colour DIS I am not sure I would get £1600 of value out of it. Also not totally convinced on the LED headlights following a short drive in the dark last night. Mu old car had halogens and clearly the colour and brightness was better but I was kind of expecting something jaw dropping and it was not there. Will see how I feel about the Xenons on the SE in the next few days.

So now back to my own new car. Absolutely love it! The changes from my 2012 pre-facelift to facelift are fairly limited (Electric tailgate - why can you not close it from the switch on the door?, DAB, 4-Zone AC - Big improvement over the 2 zone system and Xenons). Tornado Grey is very close to Quartz Grey (had that on a C6) and looks just as good as it always did and at the moment seems to not be that common a colour on the C7. Think the colour also works well with the chrome strips in the grill, seems to tone them down a bitCar came with Michelin Primacy 3 so will see how they compare with the P7s on the old car. Gave the car a quick coat of AG Ultimate Gloss Protection to keep it looking at its best. One change is the DRLs on the Xenons now run along the top of the light rather than the bottom as with the Pre-facelift. Last photo does not show it very well, will try and do another photo soon.

There was another post about the standard sound system. Having driven three A6s in 24 hours my take is that there is no difference between the pre and post facelift cars and also nothing between cars with and without tech pack.

Looks great. Tailgate can be closed via the button on the drivers door. Make sure the car is started and just pull and hold the button and watch it close.

    Enjoy the car!

Allegedly you can also close it via the keyfob if you do a VCDS tweak but could not get it to work on my car.
A6 allroad BiTdi (MY14, July 2013 - DAB & power tailgate). Glacier white, tech pack (HDD Nav, colour DIS, Parking Plus), sports seats, 4 zone climate, heated seats front and rear, ambient lighting, 75L fuel tank, adaptive Bi Xenon headlights

Also noted that the washer nozzles are now fan not jet so no more trying to align the spray to get the best coverage. Looks like the yellow AMI lead does not support video (artwork OK) on an iPhone 6 whist the old red lead with iPod Touch 2 does, guess that is progress! Also in the brochure it clearly states that the standard spec has both AMI and an Aux input. Looks like this is incorrect as there is no Aux input (was the same with pre-facelift with AMI or Aux being mutually exclusive). On the car I had with Tech Pack you get 2 USB ports and Aux input

Can't say it is noticeably different but then it has only done 70 miles and is very tight and my old car had done 36k. Economy looks to be better, given that it is so tight, getting high 40s on a trip that previously were low 40s. Car did a DPF region today after just 60 miles. Presume this is either an initialisation process set off after the first longer faster run or the impact of sitting idling during the build, delivery and dealer prep process.

Mine's just loosening off at 21500 miles. did a 250 mile round trip today and got 49mpg. wasn't driving miss daisy either. can't understand why I've decided to swap it. If your ultra is just slightly better, it'll be brilliant.

I thought the new adblue cars didn't have DPF, guess I was wrong, again

I guess they do Last week I left Bracknell with an indicated range of 125 miles for a 100 mile trip and figured I'd be OK to fill up at my usual BP (with Ultimate diesel) when I got a mile or so from home... and then I hit traffic queues and watched the range drop. So I drove like miss daisy... like there was an egg under the accelerator. Still moved with traffic wavering around 70.. a bit more or less depending on hills and traffic. Got to the BP and it was showing 50.1 MPG for the trip. Not bad for a big old BiTdi lump.
Oh it's just shy of 25k miles on the odometer now.

So, what do you get if you drive it kind of normally, not that steady but not like a nutter?
