FM radio issues

I have a 2013 C7, S-Line Avant with the standard MMI (non DAB) radio. I have noticed over time that the reception for FM stations, BBC Radio 2 in particular, is getting worse. Some areas are complete black spots and there is regular interference. Reading Audi tell me that there is nothing wrong with the system and that they will do nothing. In the same areas my old 2005 Golf GTI and wife's 2007 Seat Leon had / have absolutely no issues.

Is it reasonable for Audi to claim that there isn't a problem when far older technology performs better? Any similar experiences, thoughts or suggestions?

Seems odd and I would suggest there is indeed something wrong with the car. On my non-DAB 2012 Avant the only time I get poor reception is driving on the A4 under the M4 at Brentford. It is not unheard for the aerial amplifier to fail or for there to be a poor connection between the aerial cable and the glass. I would suggest either a trip to another dealer (Camberley, Slough or Walton-on-Thames are not too far from you) to get a second opinion or to get Reading Audi to accompany you in a second similar car to a location where you know there is a reception problem on your car and compare the two.

Check if you have a dodgy phone charger plugged in - some of the cheaper cigar lighter to USB chargers send out interference, I had to swap mine out.
