Okay as per other threads, I put in this alternator http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Au...2a8e017&000012 and it charges just fine with 14.5 volts at battery.

However ESP light comes on after 9 minutes , went to Glasgow A for Audi and was told no more than 3 hour charge, however after 5 hour charge at £360 ................ the alternator was faulty.

So as I had already replaced the alternator as I suspected the 1st replacement was suspect, the thought process was faulty wiring or ECU.

Anyway after A for Audi putting on a Remy alternator, the fault was cleared.

So, the Remy at Euro is this http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Au...d7a658d&000012 and looks slightly different.

The other option is http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Au...1e88928&000012 TRX and looks identical in fitting to the Lucas

Does anyone know what the actual Remy one should be ?

    Or indeed any one ?

Sorry never heard of Remy as a manufacturer as believed that Valeo and Bosch were OEM for the C6.

May I suggest that you don't bother with a new Alt but get your original one refurbed at a dedicated battery shop, my local one charged just £35.

Can I ask that you add your year and model of your car to your signature strip please, mention as I know with my 07 that they changed from Valeo to Bosch in that year.

I am sorry for the delay.

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Au...d7a658d&000012 The Remy works on the car and all my faults have cleared.

It has Valeo stamped on the back and looks exactly like the one that came with the car.

Having taken the plastic cover of my old one, the regulator on the Lucas one looked different to the Valeo one............................................... .... the Lucas did have a Bosch one on it
