    Hello to you all

got something on my bonnet which has eaten into the paint - managed to rectify most except for a patch about 3" x 8" which has dots from the underlayer of paint

Option are to get the bonnet resprayed which is coming in at £600-£1000 or I found an Italian company selling carbon fibre bonnets on eBay

Anyone done that latter? are these things a load of old tripe?

aftermarket stuff like this looks good but never quite fits properly. why not wrap yours. sand it dead flat, fill any holes, then apply some 3m wrap. cost is about 100 for a sheet of the stuff.

3M Series 1080 Carbon Fibre Vinyl Wrap 10x10cm Scotchprint CF12 UK SELLER | eBay

1080 is the best stuff. buy from 3m and you get the tools. look on youtube at how easy this stuff is. you put it in place and it doesn't stick so you can move it about, then press and it sticks.

Biggest concern over the CF bonnet from both companies is that mine is a Cab

I am convinced the bonnet on the cab is not the same as the normal S4/A4 bonnet

Both vendors seems adamant that they are

If this is the case then how come any after market grill always says "not for cabriolet" etc etc

Doing some research into the 3m stuff now

That's why I posted a link to a UK company. Buying from overseas companies it's almost impossible to get a replacement or refund. I have returned stuff registered post in the past and been ignored.

The bonnets are definately different, as i have a B6 Cab and a B6 saloon, the cab,s grill stays put when you lift the bonnet, the saloon lifts the grill with the bonnet.

As above, totally different lids, similar to the differences between b3 and b4 coupes.
If painting is so expensive in your neck of the woods, consider another item from a salvage outfit and as you dont need to rush , you can wait till the right colour item comes up
