    Hi,

After a most enjoyable afternoon out driving and visiting a National Trust property I managed to spoil the day by catching the front wing of our A6 on the garage door. Grrr !!

The attached photo shows that the damage doesn't go above the crease between the vertical part of the wing and the main part of the wing so I was hopeful that any respray work would be confined to just the vertical part of the wing.

Went to a local reputable bodyshop this morning and they advise me that the whole wing will need to be resprayed which surprised me.

If anyone has had any paintwork repairs on their pearl effect Daytona Grey A6 I would be interested to hear how well the new paintwork matches the original paintwork.

I would also be interested in opinions on whether this repair warrants the whole wing being resprayed.

    Thanks
    Janner

This might be worth a read. I had a smart repair done along the sill and was very impressed.

Any ideas on best approach to fix this?

A paintshop will always paint at least the damaged panel - it's how they ensure a good blend with the rest of your car.

I will always recommend against smart repairs now having been bitten.

What have the bodyshop quoted for the wing? Should be around £120>150 and likely have a long warranty on it as well as somewhere to go if things go wrong.

They have quoted £252.00 for the repair.

Perhaps some quotes from different bodyshops would be useful for the sake of comparison.
