Help with multitronic gearbox

Advice needed with my wife's A4 cabriolet 2006. The in gear dashboard display has the red background illuminated. The car drives fine with the gear selector in drive but will not change gear if you try and use the paddles or the selector. The car will just stay in drive. Any ideas as to where the fault may lie. Thanks

A fault scan is the first thing to have which should point the way with fault finding.
I believe there is a Co. in Milton Keynes that specialise in the repair of these boxes.

Thanks, all research points to the ecu but I did hear a snippet that it maybe a cable problem attached to the selector on the cabriiolets
