    Hello Guys ,

I have recently bought audi a8 with a faulty CD changer. Its the 4E0 xxx 111 - non mp3 version. I tried to repair it but its a bit hopeless. I have found online cd changer at a decent price but its part number is 8X0 035 110 <- this is i believe the newer model, but will it fit and work with my D3 ?? I have heard that 3G devices are backward compatible.

Or if you know what is the correct part number i require (MP3) i would appreciate if you could tell me .

    Thanks

You'd be best just buying one from the era your car is from, ie MMI2G High.

    4E0 910 110 E is definitely a 2G changer and is MP3 compatible.

Whichever changer you go for however you will need a thing called component protection removed by Audi or an independent who has the facility to do so.

The ones i have found with matching serial no cost around 110 - 160 pounds . The 8X0 .... i have found for 1/2 price. Hence i was wondering if it will fit. There is no hope i guess ?

I'm afraid with a car with MMI you need to expect to pay big for parts. You may or may not see issues with the 3G one hence why stay with what was made specifically for 2G.

why when you still need component protection removed @ 1hr labour at audi?

you'd be better off just buying the correct changer for the system and not hope and guess whether it'll work or not.

Or take the opportunity to bin the changer and put AMI in its place instead so you can just use an Ipod or hard drive...

Or as option #3 search on Kufatec site and add a device similar (to AMI) that would also give you access to B'tooth streaming (a2dp) for a fraction of the price. And i think (please check) that you can retain original cd changer or at least be in position to use when/if required.

    Hope that helps

It looks the same and has the MOST connector, but some sellers one eBay say 2008-on only WILL NOT WORK WITH EARLIER CARS -
so probably true. I have the 110 MP3 player, it is a step up from the CD-ROM player but it would have to be cheap to warrant buying over an AMI.
Mine was £40 a few years ago as someone misspelled it in the listing and did not have the part number in the listing.
If it was >£100 for the MP3 optical drive, I would get an AMI (or a clone http://allegro.pl/audi-ami-4-mmi-2g-...435020541.html ).
I don't even have a CD drive in my laptop or computer at work anymore and have to borrow the wife's laptop, if that broke it would be a PITA.
