Sorry all...I know that there's been a load of threads on this subject...

I've run a scan on VCDS to determine the cause of my failing reversing sensors....the relevant details are:

    "2 Faults Found:
    01546 - Sensor for Parking Aid; Rear Mid-Left (G204)
31-00 - Open or Short to Ground
    01547 - Sensor for Parking Aid; Rear Mid-Right (G205)
31-00 - Open or Short to Ground"

I've replaced the both mid-right and mid-left sensors and cleared the fault codes on VCDS but as soon as I turn off the ignition and retry, the fault recurs.

I've read the output from the four sensors on VCDS and they're all the same, so I'm assuming that they're all working correctly (otherwise I'd have found four faults instead of two).

Can anybody tell me where the controller is so that I can test the wiring from the controller to the individual sensors. (And if anybody had the relevant bit of the wiring diagram, that would be helpful too... :-)

    Thanks..

    E.

Found it....behind the trim in the boot... right hand side rear directly behind the wheel arch ....not that it did me much good.
The two outer sensors are ticking away with ignition on and reverse engaged. I replaced both sensors yesterday, so it looks like neither of the middle two are getting power.
It wouldn't be too big a job to take a look, but I have a towbar installed too....ugh....

There appear to be six wires going from the bumper/sensors to the PDC. I'm assuming these are 12v, 0v and a signal wire from each of the sensors.

Does anybody know the colour coding?

    Please??

Ok....managed to solve this problem....so I'll give a quick run-down in case anybody gets a similar result when they scan using VCDS...

I removed the attaching bolts etc from the right side and centre of the rear bumper which allowed me enough access to take a look inside it and discovered that the plastic connector which joins the wires from the sensors in the bumper to the wires from the Parking Distance Controller was damaged. It seems to have become dislodged from where it was mounted and over time constant rubbing had caused two of the wires (green/white and blue/white) to fray and eventually break.

Given that it's in an area that's liable to get wet/damp, I used two 3M IDC butt connectors to effect a water-tight repair, bound it all up well with insulating tape and all is again well. I felt that the 3M connectors which contain a sealant to provide moisture resistance would be a safe enough bet.

    Hope this helps somebody!
