RSaP, MMI, MyAudi and MMI Connect

Just wanted to ask a few questions, so managed to get rsap (trial version) to run on my samsung s5. Went to the car and connected it and it began to pull the data through and things like google maps began to work. I connected back to the cars wifi and the phone had internet access. somethings i want to confirm though:

when the Phone is connected like this then I have no way of making a call directly from the handset, it says unregistered network?
When i disconnect then I get a configuration message from my provider (vodaphone) saying something has changed an config needs installing, very annoying
also does not look like it supports 4g though?

I need to confirm I am doing this right?

My car a 61 reg audi q7 with sim slot and mmi.

If you've got a Samsung Galaxy S5 it supports rsap out of the box - you don't need to download any apps. I connect this way and don't get any configuration messages.

When connected the car "becomes" your phone so you can't use the handset to call or text.

Only the latest Audis support 4G. Unlikely to be a huge problem unless you're trying to stream Netflix in 4K!

I can answer most of this.

1. Once the phone is connected, it's a proxy SIM for your car. The phone itself no longer has a SIM - rSAP makes the SIM available to the car (and you can't have a SIM connected to more than one device). The most annoying thing I've found is that if an SMS arrives while rSAP is connected, it is stored by the car, not the phone. So you can actually miss a text message as it's only available on the car storage.

2. I've been told that if you enable wifi on the phone, and connect to your car's wifi hotspot, you can still surf on the phone - via wifi, through the car's internet connection, which then goes back to the phone! But I've not got this to work.

3. The config messages from Vodafone are *really* irritating. I used to get 5-10 messages each journey. You can get them disabled by asking Vodafone, but the process is a bit convoluted. As an aside, you shouldn't need the rSAP Android app for an S5. All Samsung Galaxy phones support rSAP - although there was a bad Lollipop update which broke it. See here: Compatibility

So just want to comfirm the setup. When configuring bluetooth shall i select 'car' or 'handsfree' for setup?

Ok i have to use the rsap app on my s5 and it works. Otherwise it doesn't list in menu. It will only list 'handsfree'.

Need to resolve this vodaphone thing though, annoying as hell

Hi, please forgive me if this isn't the right thread but its seems pretty similar to the query I've got.

just picked up my A3 S Line Quattro, MMI high Connect and when connecting my phone (HTC One M8) I don't get the option to connect to Car Phone (which is where I'd connect the car to the phones data via the SIM Access Protocol). Audi cant give me an explanation why the car phone isn't showing up other that my phones hasn't been confirmed as compatible, rASP app shows that HTC One M8 is rASP compatible out the box so I'm now confused as to what to do! Do I have to Root the phone to gain access to the car phone to switch on the data connection? should I just get a sim for the car as there seem to be a few issues raised by the theguys above with storage of texts, wifi data downloads etc? any help much appreciated (and sorry again if this isn't the right place for this! newbies eh...)

You don't need the rSAP app with the HTC One m8, and you don't need to root it. It works perfectly for me with a standard unrooted M8.

Hi guys, maybe you'll be able to help me. I've got LG Nexus 5 with the latest android 6.0 Marshmallow, which supports RSAP. However, i cannot get it to tether nexuses data connection with the car. Any ideas please?
