Just how big a risk is trying to get the glow plugs out as I have a 'circuit fault' on plug 2.

Just how prone are these things to being stuck in the head, reading the VW docs is pretty scary, made of ceramic, if it breaks make sure to get all the bits out of the engine (how in the hell are you supposed to do that !!).

I have a new fuel rail with sensors and also a new glow plug harness but if I'm doing this job all 5 glow plugs are getting done.

Do I need a special 10mm deep socket or will a normal 10mm deep socket do the job.

Am I worrying too much re the 'stuck in head' horror stories or are they more likely than success stories. (I am a certified tech but I'm not into hassle, if it's going to be hassle I'll let somebody else take the risk).
