Hello,

I have a 1999 A3 and when I took it for it's last MOT (Feb) it had major issues with its emissions. I was told it could either be the lamdba sensor, temp sensor or the engine might have just had it (it had a pretty bad coolant leak previously), in the end they gave everything a good clean and it just about scraped through. They said is will be very unlikely to pass the next MOT and to prepare myself for the worst.

For quite a long time the rev counter bounces when I'm stationery at traffic lights and occasionally stalls on me.

Here's a video of it doing it:

Could this issue be linked to the emissions issue? I don't think I'm ready to say goodbye to this car yet but I know it's foolhardy to throw money at it if the mechanics are not certain it will fix it.
