Hello All, Am new to this Form stuff, just logged on for 1st time, hoping someone can help me!!!
A have Passat 1.9TDI Estate 2006 (56model) Long of the short is - my heater blower is blowing nothing onto windscreen, all the fan blower ppower is going to the floor at drivers pedals, regaurdless of what setting the heater selector is on. I pulled out the radio and heater panels, and all electrical connections are connected as they should, and , what I first read on this site after google'ing "passat heater controls not working" was that the BOWDEN CABLE was not connected, well at first it was'nt but today I stripped it down again , and reconnected this cable, with the help of small mirrior as advised on this site, however, with this connected , it put bit more pressure on to the heater dial, so I now now its connected were it should be and is doing its job as I could see it turning as I turned the heater control. My Question is : Can anyone suggest were else a take a look at?? I have read on line about possible solonoid somthing or other, (am not the best mechanicl type!!) Is this a common problem with passats?? I apppreciate any suggestions, many thanks, Paul

    Welcome to the forum, Paul.

This is almost certainly going to be caused by incorrect fitment of that control cable. Did you happen to read through this thread : Heater Control Cable (air Distribution)

I posted a couple of pics there of where the cable attaches to the heater box. It's got to fit on in the correct position, so you need to set the control to where the air is coming out so the cable and the slot on the heater box are aligned.

    Regards.

    Jim.

Hi Jim / Flash2. - Thanks very much for the advice and pics, A am pleased to say that after following the advice from yourself and few other posts on this form, that I am happy to say my Heater Control is now FIXED and working 100% as it should !!! Tonight was my 4th attempt at pulling out Radio and Heater Control Panel in the last week or so (as I only bought the car 2 weeks ago) from small 2nd hand car sales in Glenrothes, Fife. It proved a very akward and frustraighting (yeah,a know a cant spell) 4 attempts but after reading the advice , got the problem sorted tonight in about a hour. I am a happy guy tonight, as I feel av saved myself a fortune by not having to go to VW Dealer and cough up lots a dough!! Thanks Again,
    Paul
