    +1

Solenoid as well. Replaced under warranty. Also had the EGR Valve Cooler replaced (required draining cooling system) as I was getting the dreaded flashing glow plug warning light and the rear DS indictor bulb was also replaced in an attempt to stop it giving bulb failure warning error and not flashing despite the bulb being fine

Evening all, I've just suffered from a sticking filler flap. I can hear the solenoid when locking / unlocking the car but the flap doesn't open when pushed. I've removed the trim behind the basket to see if I can access the red pull string I've read about but I cannot see it. I am also unable to get my hand up inside the trim. Before I start removing all the carpet trim, should I expect to see a remote release or is there an easier way?

This is a new shape ('11 plate) saloon.

Welcome to the club! From my experience pulling the red cord will do nothing as that is for the unlocking part which you can here is working. The issue is that the catch is not rotating and you will require a new back part of the filler assembly. Hopefully as it is a common problem your dealer will give you some goodwill towards the repair. If you need to open it before you can get it to the dealer insert a flat plastic object, perhaps a ruler into the gap in the flap top left as you look at it. Mover the ruler down and carefully force the flap open. That is basically what Audi Assistance did when thy came out to me

I used the plastic ruler idea and the flap is now open. I can see the locking mechanism rotates to secure the flap, however the solenoid noise is not accompanied by any movement. Should I expect to see this bit (photographed) turn 90 degrees when locking / unlocking the car?

That piece rotates when you push it in to release it, not when you unlock the car. It is this rotation process that frees the flap so you can open it . The solenoid prevents it being pushed in to release and thus locks the flap. When it jams, it stops you pushing it in to release. What I did not try as mine was a warranty repair was seeing what would happen if I tried to rotate it with a pair of pliers whilst pushing it in to see if that would free it.

It is just dirt which accumalates to the cavity where the rotating part is. Rinse or air blow it and put some thin lubricant to extend the usable time. If it gets wet and then freezes, it is stuck until melting.

Had the same issue on my 2011 (C7).

You could hear the solenoid when locking / unlocking the car but the flap did not open when pressed. I removed the boot trim to see if I could access the red pull string... pulled it and it snapped without releasing the filler flap. Since it was a bank holiday weekend I decided to try to access it remotely from the wheel arch by removing the rear wheel + liner and no access point. As mentioned earlier in the post the "popping" of the flap is the only way to access.

Mine was in warranty so I dropped it in the morning I called Audi and they fix it in under 15 mins... So its a straight swap for the unit as mentioned.
