Poor MPG.

Hi Audi enthusiasts,

I need help with my poor mpg I'm getting, around 30mpg.

What could be the issue?
The temperature gauge iv noticed does hop around 80-90.

It's an Audi A6 C5 1.9 tdi
54 Reg
Triptronic
6 speed

Exactly the same as mine and I just about get 40, the cvt box seemingly saps a few mpg but 30 is a bit low, has it been serviced etc?

Ive only just bought it. It has a full service history. But nothing regarding servicing the gearbox/transmission oil.

How are you working out the mpg? Are you going by display or working it yourself? Are you driving it particularly hard?

By filling up the tank and calculating it by filling up again on how many litres used.

Also using the computer on board

Also by adding certain amount of diesel and checking when the light turns on.

All in all its around 30 to 35 with mixed driving.

I don't drive hard, or like a turtle. Just average.

Get it scanned buddy to make sure you don't have a fault, coolant temp sensor won't put on the light but will still mess about with the fuelling on the car.
