sat nav disk

hi all, recently got my self a a8 and the sat nav struggles a bit, some times it works but mostly it doesn't and im pretty sure its down to the sat nav disk so I need to get a new one but is there a particular disk or version I need, the car is a 55 plate 3.0 tdi Quattro sport

you'll need a mmi 2g one from ebay. genuine ones are best.

does it matter what year disk I get or will I need to update the mmi for the later disks

There is an Audi mmi 2g 2015 thread on the gpsunderground site.
People say it works without an update but the official documentation recommends it. I think you need an MMI update for 3D map mode to be an option.
BTW, the later maps are 2 DVDs, one for western EU and one for East. This seemed to speed-up the access times up significantly.

Can I ask a quick question tagged onto this? With MMI 2G sat Nav version 2015, should road names be displayed? Mine just shows the map of the roads with the only labels being the ones selected in the settings should as petrol stations, supermarkets, golf courses etc. Thanks.

They should show they do on mine - but not in 3D bird-view mode as the text is bitmap and can't be skewed.

Which SW version do you run?

I'm on the latest software but I am using 3D mode so my guess is that's why the road names are not showing. I'll try turning off 3D mode to see if they appear. Thanks for your help.

if you are after genuine set of Audi 5570 update discs [3 x in total] drop me a PM... FYI I recently used 2014 edition of WE and EE discs on pan Euro trip and it all worked fine.
