    Hi
    i am aware of the common issues with the 3.0 TDI on pre-07MY A6 models...

    Is it the same for the same engines in the A8?
    i.e. Am i best to look for 07MY or older?

    Yes it is the same engine but a few more kW. eg engine code ASB, BMK.
    The 3.0 tdi got better every year - obviously 2005 or earlier are the most fault prone and 2010 are the best.
