Latest map for Discover Nav

If there is anyone who has recently updated their navigation map data for the (basic) MKVII Discover Navigation unit, please could you let me know the latest software version number. The instructions to find this out direct you to the German VW website, which does not actually seem to have this information! I am not sure if I need to update my map or not. Thanks.

Thanks, I had got as far as the download page and that the last update was May 2014, what I don't know is if the dealership updated to that version at the last service, or I am still on an older version. The version number I have is 5GO919866D 0021 ECE2013 - is that the latest one? [check by going to menu >> setup >> system information] Also, does anyone know if you lose your list of destinations and favourites when updating ... are they stored on the SD card (in which case presumably they do get lost) or are they stored in some memory in the navigation unit?

Looks like you're on an older version - 0021 vs 0040, so probably best to update. You don't loose any of your settings or favourites as they are not stored on the SD card (in fact you are advised to lock the card after updating, so nothing could be stored on it anyway).

As I'd expected, the zipped file downloaded in about 20 minutes (thanks to Virgin's 50MB broadband!); and backing up the old files, deleting the files from the SD card, unzipping the new files and copying them to the SD card then took another hour


But when I inserted the SD card in my Golf SV, it took an age before the Discover Media system accepted the new maps - it sat with message saying "Checking the data files" for a long long time until it eventually showed my location on the map. All my saved destinations are still there of course as they aren't saved on the SD card.
