  1. Central locking from inside

I've done a search already re: central locking probs and I'm going to check the module and connections under the passenger seat.

In the meantime I wanted to know if anyone else had had a similar problem to mine - when I lock the doors from inside all the doors lock but then a second later the front passenger door lock pops up again so the car isn't secure.

    Any ideas?

    Hi all, first post

I'm having this exact same problem. Mine's a 2003 1.9TDI 130 Sport (B5.5) and I'm dropping it into my local ******* tomorrow to have Cruise Control fitted aftermarket.

I've asked them to have a look at this and enable Anti-Hijack at the same time. When I find out what the problem was etc I'll post back.

The door lock unit is faulty, a very common problem.

    Thanks Crasher

I see. Would this stop the courtesy light under the door working or is that an unrelated problem?

The courtesy light is triggered by the door lock so the two will be related but I have never noticed that before.

Without knowing the age of your car this might be crap. On my 1998 the wires in the drivers door boot were causing all kinds of stange problems and I fixed it by opening the door and pulling back the rubber boot the wiring passes through and extending or repairing many cracked and broken wires

I have got the same problem with the front door 'reopening' a couple of seconds later and it does affect the puddle light under the door. What I also have is a rear nearside door that will only lock if you cycle the lock switch on the drivers door a number of times, when that finally locks the rear door then the passenger door then starts playing up. Is it the switch or the door lock on two independant doors? It is getting annoying but only affects the locking when I use the key and not the alarm.

That will be two door locks at fault; I have just been working on a Passat like that. Get a scan done to confirm it.

Thanks for that, I was optimistically hoping it was the switch because it is cheap and easy to change. It goes in for a service in the next 3 weeks so I will ask them to look at it at the same time.
