I have an A6 Avant Ultra coming on Friday. Very interested to see what kind of MPG I can expect. I used to have the 3.0tdi quattro and was seeing over 40 if I remember rightly but this new one seems to promise over 60mpg? Is that really achievable or does it require driving like a buddhist monk?

Am thinking if you regularly saw 40 in a 3.0 quattro your a pretty careful driver anyway?

I get 50 in my 11 mile drive to work in a C6 quattro and 42-45 in colder months, just obeying the speed limits either in cruise or by feathering the (not so) loud pedal...in fact have always reached or exceeded the manufacturers claims...even in a prius! Exception being a 2012 insignia I had on hire.

I have had my Black Edition Ultra Manual saloon with s line sports suspension for 4 weeks now and done about 750 miles in and the long term computer is showing about 48 MPG. Its been over to Manchester on Good Friday and went to Cannock on Sunday. We only live about 45 minutes to a Hour away from Manchester so not much more than 50 miles and it got 50ish and Cannock was a 215 mile return journey and it averaged 61.3 MPG. Day to day it only does about a 15 Mile commute and probably averages 45 or so. Will be expecting more once the engine loosens up but even so return similar/Better MPG to what i was getting in my C6 Avant

A great point! I was scrolling down expecting to see somebody slaughter you for this!
I have a facelift A6 Advant SE. At the moment it is averaging 44mpg. Only covered 700 miles or so and haven't as yet taken it on a longer run than my 15 mile commute to work.

Having had mine a year I have never managed anything more than 46mpg although I am normally fully loaded with kids/luggage etc.

Yeah I know a bit sad to give a **** about mpg. I don't normally but I'm taking a couple months out to do a huge road trip through Europe. So far the route planned is 8k miles and still not finished yet.

When I did the same in the 3.0 Quattro I spent well over a grand in petrol. Was tempted to get the same engine but I've got a quick runabout now so I hope I don't miss the grunt.

Sooo many variables, auto? Manual? What terrain? And, most important, are you a feather foot? Or do you drive it like yer stole it? Realistically, in normal use you could average low to mid fifties. For a car that's the thick end of two tons that's not too shabby. Enjoy.

long term is showing 51.6 over 12000 miles

short term i have had 62 on a 200 mile trip leaving it at 75mph on cruise when traffic would allow

Find the car is more economical at 75 than 65. Manual car in BE spec

Ultra Black Edt in Manual... fill to fill using the Road Trip App is 42 MPG, DIS is saying 48 MPG. The car has 7200 on the clock of which I've done 1800 miles
My Golf GTD / DSG returned 38.5 MPG over nearly 4 years, compared to the DIS that said 48.5 MPG
I'm pleased with the improvement in MPG seeing that the car is a lot more heavier and bigger.
Winter months really takes its toll on MPG
