    Hi

can someone confirm that this is the CCM unit that controls the remote central locking.

also I noticed green paint on the joints is this normal or has this been taken from a scrap car?

If I pick up another unit with remote keys and change over would this need to be programmed or will it just work straight away?

my problem is that the both remote locking keys has packed in couple weeks ago.

    thanks again

    Mike

The unit does perform that function. I cant say for sure re: paint marks, but personally havent come across an ecu with markings on before, so maybe a 2nd hand unit.
Google your issue if it will help, as I had a A4 B7 2005 which did the same, one key went then another months later and I`m sure there is info on this (Losing the memory of the programmed fobs).
Sorry I cant be more specific, I traded it before I resolved the issue.

    Hi alan

thanks, i'm guessing its 2nd hand as when I pulled the carpets back the CCM unit just dropped out, i'm sure it would have been secured or bolted on somewhere if not been tampered with.

I have tried to recode with instructions in the handbook but no luck and seems the CCM unit is a major issue.

now need to find out how to swap it round etc.

    thanks

First off, you have checked the batteries on the remotes have not failed - I have a 2002 Allroad from new and still on original batteries which I am waiting to pack in. VCDS is needed to programme in new keys OR TO RE-PROGRAMME original keys. Could be something (or someone??) has deleted the memory settings for the current keys.
If VCDS does not show any fault codes for central locking, it is certainly worth trying to re-programme the current keys. From memory (no pun intended) I believe there are 4 memory positions to allocate/re-allocate a key. This is done with the key in the ignition and the ignition on and then use VCDS to programme. If the keys's battery (or microcircuit) is goosed, VCDS will not see a key in the ignition.

I've just cleaned up my ccm. The ccm is fitted in a large black plastic box underneath the carpet. Mine was sopping wet, same as gearbox ecu on drivers side.

On a Seat I had with same key type, I had to use the laptop to reprogram the key.

I came across a website, vag diagnostics and they say it's the same as Ross tech stuff but quarter the price.

Has anyone heard of this company and is this any good?

    thanks

2 days ago the whole central locking system has stopped working, I need to unlock each door individually, as the unlock button on drivers door now doesn't work. I guess it's all related to my initial issue.

today I took out the ccm and removed the casing, trying to look for signs of burnt component, but it looks spotless with no damage at all.

I really need to pick up a vcds.
