    Hi all,
I recently bought a 2000 model VW Bora and it was fine for a couple of weeks then one key started to not work, as in it would remote open the doors but not start the engine. So I used the 2nd key, and after a while that stopped working too. It opens the doors just wont start the engine. ?! Dammit.

I looked up the little car/key symbol and the manual states the key is not being recognized by the Immobiliser!

I live in Sydney, Aust, don't know if that makes things different technically.

Any thoughts or advice / help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Daniel.

I had a similar problem... It would not open doors but it would start engine. But it was tempermental, meaning sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't.

Perhaps your problem could have something to do with where you keep your keys in relation to magnetic fields or even temperature factors. Try keeping your keys in a different place. Have you tried the black plastic spare key? See if that works...

Well i actually found that it was interference caused by some type of field on my street. My neighbours had problems with their cars, garages and even TV's aswell. As soon as i called then EPA to enquire about it, the problem went away the next day. So i don't really know what it was all about.

There could be some type of interference in your area.. ask around, see if any one else has had any problems with their remotes.

Ps. YEAH! let's start our own VW Australia forum! 2 members so far.. DantheVWman and me...
