    Hi,

    i hope someone can point me in the right direction with this problem, I have an A3 automatic sport back with tiptronic 1.6 (5dr) and to start with its a little jumpy in the lower gears with a slight whine too, after a while running it seems fine, but obvs it's looking like a gear box oil change.

    I have access to a oil suck/pump machine, but have the following questions;

    what oil is recommended, the amount, and where to buy for how much etc

    and where is the gear box oil valve to remove the oil from as I've looked through the user manual and nothing is mentioned.

    And just in case the home bosses require taxi services how much would this job cost at a garage? (Last resort, obvs!)

    thanks in advance,

    Changing the DSG / s-tronic gearbox oil requires the use of VCDS diagnostic computer equipment and it needs to be at a precise temperature to change it. This gearbox is complex and needs care - ie. The oil must be changed every 40k without fail and changed correctly. You do not want to land up with a massive bill. I would therefore suggest that you get a trusted independent vw / Audi specialist to do the work. The most expensive part of the job is the oil.

    Having said all of this, you have a 1.6 of which the vast majority have a dry clutch and don't need the oil changing. You should contact you Audi dealer to confirm.
