Hi, Just finished fitting to new front coil springs, due to one having broken . In order to do this I have unplugged/re-plugged the ABS sensor plugs to remove struts. Unfortunatly after completing the work the ABS warning light on the dash remains on with engine running. I have double checked the connections , compared the two sensors for resistance =1Kohms approx. (both). I have also checked that the tips of the sensors are free of rust debris(due to being magnetic). Also the inductive pick-up rings on the hubs seem fine, i.e not damaged /bent etc. Does anybody have any ideas ? How can I further diagnose the fault ? I do NOT have any diagnostic software....... Any help much appreciated,
    Med Roberts.

it should go straight out as normal, so it sounds like one of the plugs may be giving you a bad connection. the abs rings make no difference until the car moves, so even with them removed the light should go out as soon as you start, as per normal. check and double check the connections and if that doesn't work then try going for a drive. if the light is still on then you will need to look on the vcds map to find a local member who can help, or go to a garage. the car is ok to drive but the abs won't work, and being a golf its possibly one of the rear sensors failed just to confuse you.

Hi , resistance on the both front sensors is 1 kilo ohm. Does this value seem correct ? With them both being the same resistance value, would seem to suggest that the front sensors are good ? ( unless both have gone bad!)
Fault has only occurred after replacing the two front coil springs. How do I check the wiring to the sensors is good ? Has anybody had wiring issues ? I had to disconnect the wiring support gromets from the struts to remove them !
Could this movement have caused an issue?

No I have not given the car a drive. Could you please explain what this might do?
