Is it your intention to DIY?

If so whilst within the capability of a competant owner the car has to be perfectly level and at a certain level.

So for most it's best left in the hands of a specialist, if possible find one that has the ability to drain the torque convertor, as just draining will require 7.5-8l a full flush will require 10l

I believe from Audi it is £27+VAT per litre an the whole job around £600+VAT, I had mine done at Bristol transmissions (who didn't have the ability to flush the convertor) however using aftermarker fluid and filter came to £270 inc VAT
    XK8 96 Dyno'd at 305 and LPG converted, a mere 65ppl
    A6 07 3.0 quattro tip SE Limo, black,black leather/tints /black alloys/towbar/Alientech Eco Remap/quads/Rear DVD screens/Pogo Alert+

O no,no,no,even in my wildest dreams I would never let my self esteem to rise that high-I'll leave that job for professionals
I have planned to buy oil myself from Bristol transmissions so asked mechanic how much is required so he said 7l.
I suppose it will be quick change only.
But now I'm baffled with what oil I need so I will have to ask him to get oil from local VAG parts supplier (see above post),I'll see if we can get further discount on his trade account.

You are echoing my mechanic ,
I think I'll go with original oil. In the moment it's £23+ vat at my local TPS store and my mechanic said he'll need a 7 L of it.
I'll pay about £70 more than for same volume of ZF LIFEGUARD 6 but at least my heart will be at peace.
As I have found out recently with refurbished turbo - you get what you pay for ( sometimes less)

Mine took 7.25, so please ensure you have 8lt, also appreciate that it is the fluid specs that are important, not any brand that's printed on the bottle...since it's all likely to be the same stuff just repackaged for different pockets.

Remember it's ZF that makes the box not Audi, they recommend tranny fluid changes at 75k miles and Lifeguard 6, Audi understandably states 'sealed for life' and charge considerably more for their fluid.
