Swival towbar not locked warning in fis

Hi,

Regards A6 2011 TDI 2.0

I got an fault message in my FIS that the swival towbar is not locked.
I have measured the pins to the contact who detects if the towbar is locked or not and that works.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately I can't help with the electrics. Have you checked that it has physically locked in both positions correctly and also that the red light has gone green?

Although this doesn't answer your question you will at least have confidence in its safety. I guess a VCDS scan will help diagnose any electrical faults. Good luck with it.

Factory fit or aftermarket?

I assumed it's FF as it's a swivel one. Maybe you can get them aftermarket too?

Mine is too but it's aftermarket, Audi wanted £1100+VAT to fit and went to the place that fits them for the dealer and got mine for (inc a 4 bike rack, number plate lit board and plate) for £587 inc

Thanks for the answers guys, and I have solved the issue.

I have retrofitted the original swivel towbar that I bought from an scrapyard. I then did my own harness whit help from Elsawin and connected to the original trailer module.
The fault was when i mounted the knob for releasing the towbar, I didnt fitted the wire as it should be. So the sensor was always open.

Released the wire and put the knob in proper position and connect the wire again solved the problem.
