Well thats it, a 3.0 tdi quattro le mans should be on the drive at the weekend....so the retrofit list begins.

AMI (I noticed A6Chris used a slightly cheaper alternative so may go for that)
    DAB
Reversing Camera (Am I right to think I need a TV tuner for this?)
    Power folding mirrors

That should do it for now, anything else anyone can recommend? Thinking that a gearbox oil change couldn't hurt.

Now drinking cider hoping I have made the right choice.

If i was you i'd start with the gearbox oil first and than all the other bits you mentioned. You would probably be better off taking it easy with retrofitting stuff to the car untill you're convinced that it's a keeper.....

What year and mileage did you get in the end?

Tranny fluid changes are ideal from 80-100k miles but many recommending leaving alone if considering a first change at 100k+. Just ensure you pick a place that knows what they are doing and that can also do the internal bolt tightening sequence. Remember also if you do a change you'll still have 3l of old fluid in the torque convertor, so consider another fluid change within 10k miles.

Post up pics when you can!

    It's a 2007 with 113k on the clock.

Should be be picking it up at the weekend as long as my loan forms arrive in time. I can't believe the loan company wanted £50 for a next day service.

    Congrats, welcome to the club
Folding mirrors will be a ball ache as I think you need at least mirrors, switch, cables control module maybe coding etc.

Reverse camera depends if you have tv installed, if you have it'll have a video input you can connect to camera. If no tv you can use a xcarlink .

Where are you? As stated if doing the box fluid ensure they have done it before as it critical regarding fill procedure

    Chris, well done!!

A 2007 will have the later injectors, and if like mine it won't have a DPF (08's+ do).

What I did immediately after buying mine was:

    a) Change all filters if no recent history - so fuel/oil/air/pollen
    b) Do an engine clean - I used auto-rx in the old oil
    c) A terraclean carbon clean
    d) A tranny fluid and filter change (£270 inc IIRC) at Bristol Transmissions
    e) An economy remap
    f) Buy VCDS so I could do my own diagnostics

Now on 110k and no problems, will get around to doing the diff oil change when I get the chance.

It has DPF prep but no DPF so happy days! It has had a service but its the only one that wasn't Audi so I may drop the oil out for peace of mind. Any suggestions on whats best?

Do EGR's give these engines any issues? I've been contemplating getting it mapped out but not sure if its worth it.

Had a good think on options and I really can live without the reversing cam for now. It only cost £25 to fit one to my Accord but its going to be near £200 for the A6!

I would love folding mirrors though so will keep an eye out on ebay for a pair. Didn't sleep too well last night; want me new car

Most choose quantum longlife III which is vw 507.00 spec, however as ours doesn't have a DPF 504.00 is fine (according to the forum sponsor Opie Oils)

I did find this on Ebay, which seems to tick the boxes, as a change from the sump see's about 7.5l out it's prudent to buy 3 x 5l so you've got enough for the next change:

    5L Westway Audi/VW Quantum Spec VW LONGLIFE 3 Oil - 5w/30 - 5 Litres 504 507 | eBay

I change my oil filter every 5k regardless and order in bulk from ECP when there's an offer on, so always pay less than £5.

As to EGR, yes they do have issues but I'd not map it out unless you are going for a remap (as price difference between a remap and egr delete remap is negligible).

Until you decide best to take off and clean.
