    Hi all,
I'm a newbie here and going to pick up my new A6 on Thursday in Mythos black with Lunar silver S tronic. I've had VW's most of my life (apart from A3 2.0 T about 10 years ago).

The car I'm trading in is a CC GT DSG and can't wait to run the A6 in and was wondering if anyone has any advice on driving modes to be used and if any to avoid.

I always thought the auto DSG on the CC was good but was blown away by the S Tronic on the Audi.

Hope the weather holds out so you have a nice day to collect your new toy.

I think for running in "auto" for gearbox and engine is probably best - so set up an individual mode with those two set to auto and mess with the other settings to your hearts content (I guess you can do steering and suspension) but avoid forcing the engine into dynamic unless it "needs" to go there - i.e. you've told it "auto" but for some reason you needed to put your foot down (overtake gone bad, potential accident avoidance, whatever).
Eco mode is generally considered to be a bit of a white elephant - I'm sure someone will disagree but the consensus seems to be it dulls responsiveness so much it really does "extract the fun". If you're in the middle of nowhere with an eighth of a tank of fuel and no prospect of a topup for 60 miles then go for it but for every day use it dulls the car down too much.

Obviously you want to avoid pulling back on the gear lever to select S (dynamic) for the first 500 miles or so.
Don't be too gentle with it... I've been guilty of this in the past and was a bit more 'aggressive' with my BiTdi. You don't want to be buzzing the red line but you don't want to make it labor. Personally I aim for moderate revs- 2 to 3K max in the first 500 miles then build it up - but select gears to ensure it is free spinning. Obviously when cruising it's gonna be sub 2k.

Have fun on Thursday and don't forget to post some pics. Not entirely sure how Mythos Black differs from other blacks but I'm sure it will look splendid when clean... Just to finish this post on a "downer", I'd never have another black car. Did it once, oven in summer and a pig to keep clean in winter, hope you have easy access to a good jetwash
A6 allroad BiTdi (MY14, July 2013 - DAB & power tailgate). Glacier white, tech pack (HDD Nav, colour DIS, Parking Plus), sports seats, 4 zone climate, heated seats front and rear, ambient lighting, 75L fuel tank, adaptive Bi Xenon headlights

Thanks ukgroucho, great tips and will make sure I stick to those - I will resist the temptation with dynamic mode.

I saw two types of black in the showroom (mythos and Havana) and the mythos has a silver glimmer up close and the Havana has a brown glimmer up close also. It's now my third black car and know how hard it is to keep clean but worth the pain after a good wash. Also now on third jet wash due to over use.........

Thanks for tips and will post some pics after Thursday's collection.

    Hi Chris,

Enjoy your new A6. I use comfort mode when I'm feeling lazy and just want to cruise from A - B and dynamic when I want to get involved.

Just be careful with dark clothing, my wife had a new suide coat and it left dye transfer that is impossible to get off.

I had a loan car last week, it had the lunar silver seats. It had done 1400 miles and the seats were filthy when I got it. I dont know about them...the leather grain and appearance just looks a bit cheap for an Audi. In my opinion
