I bought a Audi A4 b5, I noticed that the Rev counter goes as far as 7000 rpm, does that mean someone has changed the clocks from diesel cluster to petrol, also the display in centre flashing oil sensor and other symbols continuously, appreciate any help,do petrol clocks work fine in diesel

I'd say it's been swapped, takes a bit of butchery to get it to work and it never works properly.

Thx for quck reply, should the oil warning lights work with the petrol cluster ? Also how would i go about puting diesel cluster back into it,is it tricky ? Only thing i dont like is i dont know if oil warning light is working, cause in my other car,its a seperate light that turns on when u turn on ignition, then off when car starts

There's two oil lights one for pressure the other for level. If there are no damaged plugs at the back of the cluster a diesel one will be easy to fit, but.,,, It has to be coded to the car using diagnostic equipment plus old clusters can be dodgy. You'd need to talk to a dealer and find out exactly what cluster was in the car when it was new and then source one the chances are you'd need to have it repaired after buying it. It might make financial sense to buy a new cluster

OK, does the immobiliser light come on and go off? You need to make a call to a dealer find out what cluster was in her. You'll need to source a cluster and have it coded to the car although this might have been bypassed for the petrol cluster. Last NCT will have the mileage the day she was tested that's as near as you can get, some ECU's store the mileage some don't. That car has glow/heating plugs, where did you get it? Adverts?

Bypassing an immobiliser is not something you can discuss in an open forum, I think if the guy that did the head gasket didn't know there were glow plugs in a diesel I'd be wary of anything else. Look around where you live see if any Polish guys are doing diagnostics, they'll code the cluster for you

No it's direct injection and will start (usually) immediately. If it's not annoying you get an oil pressure test and just drive it
