Apparently my problem with fuel consumption is that I am using Tesco diesel...I have been advised that I should use Vpower and that the extra cost will be covered by the greater fuel economy...anyone out there agree?

I gave up on the obc with the last A6 2.0 tdi which was telling me I was getting 37.5 mpg when the calculated reality was only 18 - 21 mpg at the pump. This was when the Audi / Dealer replaced the vehicle. Apparently, the combo of 2.0 tdi and the cvt gearbox was not a happy marriage, hence that combo is no longer available....the stories they tell to get you out the showroom!!
All I can tell you is that I switch from shell to bp to tesco all the time and I have never noticed any difference, still averaging mid 40's. I went out for a drive yesterday with the master tech and while he was there I quizzed him re the multibox, he said it was a shame it was discontinued as it suited the car perfectly. So, who do you believe? A snake in a suit? Or a master tech? Hmm, difficult one.

I'll try and find a master tech at the dealership....all I have met are 'fitters' that replace parts that the computer tells them to. One suggested solution to my tailgate problem was to order a new tailgate, struts and fittings!...however, the computer says it is ok...so Audi won't do anything other than reflash the software. Can't believe I gave up my A8 for this nightmare.

Just want to say thanks for the various responses! I am glad I joined up!!

sounds like some water getting into the switch that opens the tailgate. it shorts out, thus is the same as you opening it manually. removing and drying usually sorts out this sort of problem.

Techs are wunderbar! Took mine in because I suspected excessive wind noise passenger side, guy came out, listened, said we'll have it in and chech it over with ultrasound! Ended up diagnosing a very slightly warped mirror housing that might be causing buffeting. Replacement ordered under warranty. Marvellous.

Best not ask me...my experience was painful...and eventually the dealer agreed to exchange the car. Ask for assurance on the fuel economy and then test it at the pump. See what other Forum members have to say.

Hi all. Got the car back on Friday evening. All seemed fine till last night when I got a warning on the MMI screen re tyre pressures. A quick check with a digital pressure reader proved they were all spot on. While checking, I also looked into the oil level and tested this in accordance with the manual....Reduce Oil Level warning came up and refused to go away. I tried a number of times with a warm engine over 40 minutes and it would not away. I think my stress level may be tracking my oil level and needing reduced. I reset the tyre pressure warning and will await developments.

Mines been stuck on reduce oil message for over a week
it was fine for a couple of months.
Gonna take it to ******** when I get some time.
Cant be good for the engine as I suspect that some fuel got in the engine while it was on a dpf regen. Diesel is far from being a good lubricant for an engine. Big ends going.....

Well called the dealer today about my reduce oil level warning and they got the Audi assist guys out. They told me not to drive the car till it was checked out. A bit overkill if you ask me.
the guy checked it and sucked about 300ml out of the dip stick hole and now it's all ok.
