Hi thought I'd share my experience!

My 1999 1.8TQS that I bought 3 months ago wasn't registering any coolant temperature or oil temperature, even after the 25 mile drive home from collecting it on Christmas Eve.

VCDS Lite gave me the G62 coolant sensor fault code so I bought a replacement from ebay, doh!, guess what? didn't fix it.

Bought a genuine sensor ( new Blue 4 pin Square one ) from Audi thinking this would solve it.......nope.

Today I replaced the Thermostat and coolant and within 5 mins of idling I had coolant temperature sitting at 90 degrees ( once I'd fully bled the system ) and also the oil temperature was registering now!!!!!!

I had thought that I was looking at a sensor change for the oil but apparently not. I guess it must be a function of the coolant temperature???

Anyway, if your oil and coolant temperatures are not budging off the bottom of the scale then change the sensor ( genuine ) AND the thermostat ( I used an aftermarket one from ECP )

Hope this helps someone,

Cheers, Leigh
