Hi Guys,

new to this forum.Looking for some help.
Please excuse me using the A3 section but my query is about a Skoda Yeti 4x4 2012 that uses the same 8P chassis and running gear as the A3 Quatro and Golf 4motion and
there is next to no info available on the Skoda Yeti.

My Questions :

1. Has anyone on here dropped the rear subframe on their 8P Golf or Audi A3 ?
2. Did the subframe need realigning ?
3. How did you realign the subframe ?

I have dropped mine to do a repair to a track control arm bracket that had got damaged. The bracket had to be re welded.
To do this I dropped the subframe along with the transfer box attached after it was split from the prop shaft.
The subframe was repaired and then went back up into place and the four bolts holding the subframe in place seemed to align
easily enough and the whole lot was bolted back onto the chassis.

I also replaced the rear lower wishbone on that side which had also been damaged.

Now I can't seem to get the toe and camber anywhere near running straight on the side of the car that was damaged and I have
gone to the limits of the offset bolts that allow the toe and camber to be adjusted and there is no room for any further adjustment.

It leads me to think :

a ---- the rear subframe may not be aligned properly even though the bolts went in easy enough. ( Perhaps there is movement tolerance before the bolts are torqued up ? )
b----- the re-welded bracket holding the top camber arm may be slighlty out---although I took a great deal of time to get it in the right place.

I suspect the rear subframe needs aligning first before the small toe and camber adjustments are made on the lower wishbone and top camber arm with the eccentric bolts.

( PS: the eccentric/camber bolt system is a pathetic , cheap and nasty system and very unlike VAG . My guess is they will supercede this system with
a better adjustment system in future models ). There are performance parts available that offer a far bigger range of adjustment----- but they cost an arm and a leg

Is there anyone out there who can offer advice please .

Thanks
