    Hello,

Had an engine service lamp on for a little while and have taken the plunge by purchasing a copy of VCDS as the car is now of an age where I am sure I will get the "investment" (in the diagnostic kit at least) back!

Vehicle is an Audi A4, Model Year 2009, B8 2.0Tdi, engine code CAGA

I have run a fault check on the engine module and the following has flagged up:

    5346 - Intake Manifold Flap; Bank 1
    P2009 00 [039] - Short to Ground
Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 00000001
    Fault Priority: 2
    Fault Frequency: 1
    Mileage: 143649 km
    Date: 2015.02.15
    Time: 12:11:00

This fault seems to be a little vague on the net - there are loads of threads on issues with the inlet runner on the 3.0TDi but doesn't seem to be a common issue on the 2.0TDi.

I am contemplating replacing the IMRC actuator (OE part number 03L 129 086) - does this sound sensible or should I be trying something else first?

Unfortunately the dealer does not supply that part individually and I have to purchase the whole intake manifold assembly @£500 it appears so I may be looking for a second hand part from a breakers - not ideal so if anyone has a better suggest I am all ears (already tried local motor factors who have said that this part is OE only).

    Any help appreciated.

Hi yes I have your pm. Many thanks. This part seems to be the throttle body rather than the intake runner flap control motor......am I barking up the wrong tree! Thing is the throttle is working just fine (engine is running generally ok albeit with a bit of a dip in power but that may be a placebo effect!)

    Hi
Apologies - just seen your engine code, info I sent was not applicable to that engine. You're looking at intake swirl flap motor short to earth, from the bit digging I've done it seems the whole flap manifold needs replacing including motor but I'm sure there must be repairs on the go or ways of replacing motor only, looks like motors are available from breakers, not sure if it would need adaptation with VCDS . Sorry can't be much more help, it's not an engine I'm familiar with.

Any tips regarding adaptation with VCDS? I have seen this mentioned a few times on the web and I suspect the final fix may require this so could do with being prepared....

Apologies for a bit of a post bump. Thinking of doing a complete manifold replacement.

Q1 Will re adaption be required?
Q2 How do I do this with VCDS?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi
since youve just got vcds can you run a log on the engine while driving to see if the flaps are actually moving as engine load and speed changes . Maybe worthwhile before you change the manifold.
I just received my vcds lead yesterday after having had access to a good forum members vcds, until we moved hoose.
Maybe best to repost the thread, looking at number of replies to this area of forum it seems pretty quiet!
