I know I shouldn't let her drive it but it is her car so I can't really stop her.

So here is the problem - my aftermarket radio has stopped working. Turned out to be fuse on the unit itself, however, it lights up but controls don't work. So I thought it would be an excuse to buy a new one

And then, the rear wiper has started and won't bloody stop

Has anybody got any ideas before I start thinking about main dealer expenses??!!

    Thanks

'Your wife', uh huh, sure thing

The wiper is one of three things; stalk, relay or motor.

I'd start with the easiest and squirt some contact cleaner into the stalk base area and then operate the switch as normal. If that doesn't cure it, you can take it apart and give it a proper clean.

If that doesn't fix it, check/replace the relay under the dash.

If that still doesn't cure it, you'll have to remove and clean the motor but it's normally easier just to replace.

Four things...you forgot to mention the wiring that connect them all together so add a wiring loom to the shopping list

No idea what you mean, there's never been a wiring issue in a VAG vehicle has there ?

Problems with rear wipers on these cars usually attributed to the screen wash leaking within the unit and frying the electronics within. Then it starts going a bit haywire, then stopping altogether. Replacement job.

See, I was thinking about just changing the tailgate as my first job and then working my way down to the cheapest part. Good idea??!!

Or I could just chop it in and get a Focus!

On a serious note, with 2 electrical items going haywire at the same time, is there anything other than the entire loom that would connect them?

Shouldn't this be replaced at Audi's expense if that's the case......wishful thinking i expect

On a vehicle that's at least 10 years old? Wishful thinking indeed.
