    Morning All,

I'm trying to sell my S4 via Pistonheads and Autotrader and I'm not getting any joy. 1 phone call since the adverts have gone on. It's not that important, it's a fantastic car that I don't use very much, so if it doesn't sell I'll happily keep it! However I've seen another car (A5 cabrio) that I fancy so I thought I would float mine out there to see if I got any takers.

It's an 2010 model on a 59 plate but actually carrying an S4 prefix private plate which will stay on the car. Sports seats, sun roof, stronic gear box, metallic silver etc. It's got a FASH (next one booked in this week) and a years MOT. HPI and finance clear, with only 44000 miles. I'm not going to put the price on here as I don't want to break any rules, but it's the cheapest comparitive S4 being sold privately that I can find @ less than 18k..... :-)

Has anyone got any suggestions or advice why I might not be getting any interest? I've dropped the price a couple of times and it's got all the boxes ticked. I just thought I would have a few enquiries for a car like this.

    Thoughts please?

you just have to wait for the right person to come along. its a lot of car but also a lot of money and a lot of people don't like taking a gamble on something like this and will buy from a dealer instead. any dealer mind, even a back street dealer who will close down and move if you came back with a warranty claim. it will sell, heck it would have done already if i could afford it.
try an ad on here in the for sale section , you never know. also i would try a classified ad on ebay, lots of coverage there.
autotrader seems to be used by dealers to buy new stock and pistonheads is still a bit sort of not used as much. gumtree is more popular.

It's a bit like a friend of mine who was selling his S8 V10. He advertised the car for weeks in all the usual places with not so much as a single phone call. In the end it was sold on ebay. The car was perfect. It must have been one of the best specced S8's in the country, with low mileage to boot (less than 18K) and full Audi SH. I was sorely tempted but SWMBO said 'NO' rather loudly. He got a shockingly low px offer against a new model Range Rover. The RR lasted less than two months before being nicked. He now runs around in an old Bentley Turbo that also has done less than 19K miles, with FSH. But this car cost less than twelve grand to buy, no doubt it'll cost a lot more to run though.

I would say its till too early in the year for cars to sell quickly.

I've also found that if your cars not on the first page of the search then it will sit there for a while. Unless someone is after your spec.

I think patience is the key. Like the others say just needs the right buyer to come along

Agree get the right time and they move quickly. I used EBay in March of last year for selling my X5 and got lots of junk offers, left it till October put it in Autotrader and I got 3 calls on the first morning (all before 10am) offering full price, then 4 more before I suspended the ad later that day.

Being a rare car had he offered it to an Audi dealer, two of the calls I took were from Bmw dealers with done deals. Might be worth a call.

I found your ad on Autotrader. I have sold a few cars on Autotrader and Ebay and found the former being by far the cheapest and most effective. With Ebay you get a lot of chancers contacting you will stupid offers for the car unseen but I've ended up selling locally to a buyer who views the car on Ebay and makes an offer there and then. I then withdraw the Ebay listing and avoid the final fee (I think Ebay expects this). I did get one nutter who bought it unseen and then wanted to come and view the car and then negotiate the price down from there but I got the fee back no problem and he got blacklisted.

Looking at your Autotrader ad, I'd say you need a lot more pictures for a car that price, believe me the new potential owner will pour over them, you want them to picture it on their driveway. The description is good though and shows you cherish the car which is what you want when buying privately.

    This is excellent advice ^

    Compare yours - Audi S4 3.0T FSI quattro 4dr S Tronic 4WD

    With this chap's - Audi S4 3.0T FSI quattro 4dr 4WD

Personally, straight photographs of what it is I'm buying are for more attractive than a jaunty angled photo and an instagram-esq frame.
