Would the battery phelum and scuttle covers of a facelift A4 B5 fit into the older type?

Reason being the one in the clasps have broken and Audi don't seem to have any in stock (only £19) and ebay seem to think of a price and double it when it has the name Audi in front. So I got to thinking why not update it while I'm at it.

When it rains the rain just goes over the scuttle grill and on to the battery, the newer scuttles and battery covers seems to prvent this.

I have an odd Audi from 1996 were it seems some of it is facelift and others not, for instance the timing tensioner was the old type but the new type fit in perfectly; just wondered in the scuttles would fit too.

    Thanks.

Yes they will.Done this on my 1995.When you get the parts, make sure you also get the full width bulkhead seal from the facelift,as the pre facelift seal doesnt fit properly with the
    plenum cover in place.

As stated above the item will fit perfectly, good point about the seal too. A word of warning though, it won't stop the drains blocking and the plenum area flooding. You'll still need to check those pesky drains! Still worth fitting to stop giving the battery a shower though.

Thanks for the advice, I cleared the drains in 2011 and took the rubber gromit out from under the battery; not been a problem since.

Just following up on this, as I am also looking into getting a plenum chamber and the scuttle (water deflector under the wipers).
The nearside water deflector (the one over the pollenfilter, 8D2 819 403C) is cracked:

But looking at some pictures on eBay, the facelift water deflector is slightly different (8D2 819 401):

Can I replace the whole set on my pre-facelift as pictured below (from facelift model), including the rubber seal as mentioned previously?:

Just did some shopping around for facelift parts:

    • Water deflector (the plastic bit under the wipers)

    Left RHD (8D2 819 401): £24.16
    Right RHD (8D2 819 402): £24.16

    • Plenum Cover RHD (8D2 819 447A): £23.33

    • Battery Cover RHD (8D2 819 422): £8.47

    • Rubber Seal Gasket (8D0823 723D): I forgot to ask the price...

Prices are brand new from TPS. Used parts prices on eBay are almost the same (with imperfections and wear+tear), if not more!

    Crazy...!

Went to a breaker and I got all the parts for £22.50!

Got a "417A" instead of "447A" for the plenum cover but it fitted perfectly fine!
