After doing 20 miles from new i had a burning smell coming from the exhaust and the fan cut in, i wondered if it was because the car was brand new, i took it to the dealer who plugged it in and said the car hadnt done a regen as i thought but they did one anyway saying the system could be sooted up even though the car was brand new.
Ive just done 800 miles and im short running at the moment but once a week i give the car a blast down the motorway for half an hour.
The burning smell came back again tonight and the fan cut in but the garage insist nothing is wrong, anyone got any thoughts ideas.

Does sound like a regen ...smells a bit like burning rubber.

Very likely a regen, giving it a full blast on the motorway produces more soot than just driving along btw
It stinks more when car is new, will become less noticeable once you have few k miles on it. At 52k miles I don't really smell much anymore unless stationary.

The yellow triangle is the ESP light....flicks on occasionally when the tyres start to spin...just showing you it's working correctly. Was the weather damp and/or did you boot the car when you noticed it? Nothing to worry about if it briefly flashes. You can turn ESP off but then the light Will stay on warning you the system is turned off.
