    It was the 177ps

As already suggested, if you had fun in a 535d you should try a BiTdi. Makes me smile everytime I drive it. Make sure its in dynamic though, the noise is important!

I totally agree. A6 and the A7 are leaps ahead compared to the A4/5.

A friend of mine has a BiTdi A6 BE and the noise it makes in Dynamic is fantastic. Its got a satisfying yet effortless Growl from the rear. It drives effortlessly too. He's had the power output modified to 385...it's an absolute beast... I told him what I think of him....not so much the car..lol

Also added the burden of using ad blue to keep emissions in line with euro 6. Performance remains unchanged. The a6 is as you say, a remarkable car whether in 2.0 or 3.0 lt guises.

If you read previous posts you will find most people are delighted with theirs, I know I am.

The 190 Engine in the Ultra is a new unit, not a simple tweak to the 177. Its the EA288 unit originally developed for the new MQB (Golf/A3) platform. My impressions having owned both, economy is similar, performance feels far stronger - although that may be down to improved driveability and throttle response - and refinement is massively improved. As for the Ad-Blue - topped up once now, cost peanuts and was no more difficult than filling the washer bottle.

It's interesting my neighbour is a taxi driver, about 6 month ago he traded his 2.0 TDI multitronic in for a 2.0 TDI S-tronic, in his opinion the multitronic is a more fuel efficient vehicle than the S-tronic. I have a multitronic, I like it, the transmission is very smooth, yet if I want to play a bit sport works well as does manual with the flappy paddles, it's a hell of a lot better than the 6 speed DSG Touran we had before.
