    hey.

i've got a 59 plate golf bluemotion. i've had it a few years now. the first winter i never got the dpf warning light. last winter it came on 2/3 times but went off after 15 mins or so.

this winter it's come on about 5 times but again it's gone off after a while.

i live on the outskirts of london, it's always been when i'm driving short journeys that it comes on (i only usually use it once or twice a week in london). but usually every weekend, if not every other weekend, i'm doing 120-200 mile roundtrip motorway journeys.

last night it came on just as i got off the motorway, which seems a bit weird.

could it be a problem with a sensor? as it only seems to come on in the winter.

Does sound a bit strange if it came on just after driving on the motorway since it should have been passively regenerating anyway! When it does come on though I assume you know to take it for a run and keep the revs high.

thanks for the reply. just had a read of that.

i do go for the regen afterwards. the lights always gone off by the time i get to a dual carriageway though. i took it out again this evening for 25 mins on 3k revs.

i spoke to someone at a garage after posting this, he suggeted i was better off trying a dpf cleaner first when i next fill up, rather than him taking my money straight away.

referring to the post you linked me to - i'm not having any problems with consumption. averaging 60 on a motorway drive, 35-50 in town depending on traffic.
