Id like some help, im collecting my new b6 avant 1.8t quattro next week.

I know there must be a few bits and bobs that will help improve the engine ect.but not sure as ive never owned an audi before.

in fact a petrol turbo, ive always had diesels.

i know in diesels the egr removed and cats improve the running of the car.

so if theres any mods to the 1.8t or problems that i need to check and keep an eye out for please let me know.

I never got round to doing it myself but one of the cheaper and more rewarding mods is to upgrade the rear sway bar to that of the RS4. Its a direct swap and improves the handling greatly according to those who have done it.

Should be plenty of threads on here about it.

Unless you can positively tell that it's been done, sump off and oil-pick cleaned and replaced.

Sounds OK to me. You could add a nice fibreglass body kit. Plenty on offer on ebay It'll make the car look like it could go faster than than a Veyron.

Back to reality, if I were you I'd be changing the oil regardless of what's supplied with the car, when you pick it up, to a quality (Castrol/Quantum) fully synthetic type ASAP. Do no harm whatsoever to change the often neglected fuel filter at the same time.

Thank you,i forgot the fuel filter. oils the 1st thing ill do and filter. is genuine filters best or do they do a performance filter? suppose there just a gimmick anyhow,i dont like all that kit,ill be swopping the original 19s for some 17s with winter tyres.its the s-line so i think it has all the kit.only thing ill probably do is cat back exhaust help it breathe abit better with a panel filter.maybe a remap but 190 standard should be ok

Most of the problems are well covered. How comfortable are you with spanners? A GreenA8 said sump really needs to come off to check for sludge and clear the strainer. For this you need to raise the car, support the engine and drop the subframe. Not as hard as it sounds but you need to feel comfortable doing it. Also if you ever have to do the clutch at home pull the engine the gearbox is a pig to remove without a ramp. And get an 8 track stereo
