heyup. great website and forum. the information over time read from here has been of great use, especially as i've been more of a lurker than anything. so i need help again but it's a head scratcher, and can i challenge people to help me with a solution, that probably will take me some time to solve but i intend to post how i get on, so...

1.9 tdi pd100 y-plate (197,000miles), power up hill staying in third, top of hill into roundabout, should have down changed to second-hindsight a good thing, but didn't. laboured through roundabout and tried accelerate being lazy, nothing much happened, dropped a gear, again nothing happened. seemed in a limp home mode. barely reaching 40 on country national speed limit road.

eventually dash showed glow plug sign illuminated and flashing and engine workshop. pulled over. switch off checked a few things. started car, sat at 1100/1200 revs, but pressing accelerator caused no increase or decrease in revs- nothing. couldnt drive, insure recovery had no codes and couldnt diagnose fault but i got a tow home at least.

please advise and help. i will over time post how i get on.

you need a proper computer rather than the generic obd reader the recovery bloke had, then you will find the code and be able to fix it. have a look on the vcds map in the vcds section and see if there is a member local who can help. you will need 10 posts to be able to pm him though, so get typing.
