Passat 1.4tsi DSG bi fuel cracked gearbox casing

Hi all,

I've just joined the forum to hopefully help sooth my VW woes. We have an 07 Caravelle and an 09 Passat, both of which have majorly let us down in the last 24hrs.

I'll focus on the Passat first.

Only recently purchased, fresh (Swedish) MOT, very clean. I gave it a good once over and test drive before handing over the cash, but found a puddle of oil on the ground under it yesterday. Took it to the (very) local garage who quickly identified a badly patched crack in the DSG casing.

What are my options? It's a hard gearbox to find used in the UK - much more difficult here due to the lack of population. Can any reasonable and long lasting repair be affected on the casing?

To give you an idea of what kind of day we've had, the Caravelle's clutch went this morning too. It's the 4motion, so not a cheap one to replace either.

Any help regarding the Passat much appreciated.
