    Hi All,
I'm considering buying a GTD 170. Is the MPG all that different from a 140 Model golf? Any other running costs get higher with the GTD model?

Lastly as the golfs have such good retail value here, an A3 Audi secondhand has a good spec and looks like better value, any opinions?
Lastly I'm 6'7" tall, any idea which would suit a tall fella better?
I plan on test driving both, just wondering if anyone has lived with one a while.
    Thanks
    Ro

Which A3? 8P or 8V (8V is the new one).

I've had a 140 golf and I think it uses its interior space better than the Audi - In fact, I think the Golf is a nicer car all round. For the record, I've driven and spent time with a 140 Golf, and both mentioned A3s. The Golf, even in GT spec, is just a nicer place to be. The Audi, however, will hold its value better.

And the 170 has different interior parts to the engine over the 140 but I think running costs should be the same - the MPG will, however, be less. Me, I'd consider a Golf 140 and get it remapped...

As above Golf 140 TDI could be a good shout. Significantly cheaper than the GTD and can be better equipped. Mine has various extras like Bluetooth, DAB, front/ rear parking sensors and cruise control, none of which a GTD gets standard. I was originally going to get it remapped but I'm not missing the extra power as much as I thought I would. I find for motorway driving the significant torque of the 140 TDI is ample to make swift progress
