    Hi Everyone,

I have just service my golf and tried resetting the service interval in VCDS using the SRI Reset function but once this has completed it is still flagging up as service due.

I have also tried the manual method to no avail.

Does anyone have any idea of the values and sequence to reset the service interval manually through the instrumentation adaptation menu?

Any help is much appreciated! I was trying to reset to longlife but either this or time/distance will do.

    Thanks in advance.

    KD

    Hi again.

I tried the above values and unfortunately it still doesn't seem to be working. After trying the above I set channel 02 to 0 and then went on to channel 40 which stated adaption channels must be entered and stored in the order below. You can also see the values I entered:

02 to 0 (as prompted by VCDS - 0 for service not due)
45 to 2 (as prompted by VCDS - 2 for flexible service intervals)
42 to 93 (93 as per below link)
43 to 186 (186 as per below link)
44 to 730 (as prompted by VCDS - 730 for flexible service intervals)
49 to 365 (as prompted by VCDS - 365 for gasoline engine with flexible service intervals)
40 to 0 (as per below link)
41 to 0 (as per below link)
46 this channel brings up an error and says not available
47 to 0 (as per below link)
48 to 0 (as per below link)

Question Longlife service and low oil warning. [Archive] - VW AUDI Forum

Unfortunately this hasnt worked either. Does anybody have any further ideas?

Also, just to add I have tried the manual way (hold milage reset, turn on ignition, press "m" button) and this isn't working either.

    Thanks in advance,

    KD

I found this info on the Snap-On site about manually resetting the SRI. It says there are two other channels that you need to set to zero, 053 & 055. They weren't mentioned on the Ross-Tech web page.

Sorry, but I can't think of anything else. I've never had a problem resetting any MK5s to longlife using my diag machine. I've had to do a couple of Seats manually (Leon based on the MK6 Golf) but it's a bit different on those. Funnily enough, the Seats both had the same problem your having, the normal longlife service reset procedure wouldn't work and neither would setting it to time and dist using the menu option. But manually adapting the settings on them worked.

    Good luck finding a solution.

Thanks for all your help! How would i go about resetting it to the simple time/distance regime manually? Id like to give that a go, id be happy with that if it would work.

    Thanks

With the ignition off, press and hold in the trip mileage reset button (button to the right of the cluster). Keep it pushed in while you turn on the ignition. The display should show "SERVICE NOW".
Now with the ign on, release the reset button and press the "MIN" button (button for adjusting the clock). Just a push/release on the min button. You don't need to hold it in.
The display should go back to displaying the temperature of what ever is normally on it depending on what cluster the car has.

Try that and see how it goes. I think there is a menu item in the cluster of the GTIs too. You'd access it either with the paddle switch on the wiper stalk or the menu button on the steering wheel if it's a multi-function wheel.
I cant remember the actual menu items you need to select off the top of my head but I suppose it's going to say reset or something. When you select it you press the button on the under side of the wiper stalk to perform the reset.
