    Hi all,

Good news (for me) - I've just found this site!
Bad news - just had my car stolen!

If theres a better place to post this let me know....

Just in case anyone happens to see it please, pm/contact/police etc
It was taken from outside my house on Sunday21Sept night/Monday22Sept morning.

    Some details:-
It was a Golf Mk5, Bright red (standard colour not metallic) GT with sunroof.
Other than that it was standard
    LR56 YMA reg no
Taken from near Uxbridge in Middlesex.

Cheers all hope to be making some more up beat posts in the future... keep those eyes open

    Hi

Any sign of your car yet?

We are in Hampshire and we don't get too many red Golfs in this are everyone seems to go for black or silver, so I'll keep my eyes open.

    Hi Golden Girl,

Theres been no news of the car yet - my guess is that it is parked up somewhere quiet while they wait to make sure the police dont turn up via tracker etc.

When I bought it I thought that red would be a bit less popular -I've not seen many at all in red, also had a sunroof another slightly less usual option.

Thanks though, the more people keeping eyes open the better :-)

    No, no news so far!
Although I did get a congestion charge fine for when the car was photographed in Ladbrok Grove on Tuesday at 14:00!! ( the day afterit was taken/reported stolen) cheers for your vigilance Ken. I wish I could sue him for aiding a criminal haha!
Anyway Insurance have asked for all the details, theft report form, logbook, service history, etc, etc, etc so hopefully should hear from them next week as to whats going to happen, but I'm guessing its going to be quite a while before I get a new replacement, at least 3 months waiting time from vw..
Now its gone, and as long as the insurance pays out, I kind of hope it doesnt get found - is that odd?

No, I don't think it is. I think if my car was stolen and missing for a few weeks, I wouldn't want it back.

I would not want it back now.. lets hope it does not get found as no-one wants i car back which has more than likely been abused!.

What normally happens (as i have seen on TV) is they get stripped for parts and sold on the likes of Ebay or under the counter deals with dodgy scrap yards..

Once you have sent your paper work off to your insurance, i think when they receive the paper work for you its then classed as a loss. so if it is found it will then be the insurance companies car to sell on at the stolen recovered auctions.

    Rick

    Just a quick update:
Had a road tax reminder through a few days ago, log book is with insurance co so cant notify DVLA that its not mycar anymore. Have written and advised them of circumstances, just got a reply that I may still be liable for road tax or the penanlty for not paying it - hows that work - duh!
Still no news on the car, or the progress with the insurance co. so still driving around in the temporary replacement mk4 gti - hmm different!
just thought I'd let you know...
    cheers

Can you not just say it is of the road so you aren't liable to pay it? Surely if it's been stolen they can't expect you to pay road tax. And you never know, the thiever may get pulled over if it doesn't have road tax
