Steering Wheel swap is it possible A6 2005 3.2 FSI Quattro – 28-12-2014,11:47 PM
Hello again, im re-posting this request as i still want if possible to swap my current steering wheel to one with volume and menu buttons... Anyone out there know if it can be done ...Thanks

Hi my A6 has a non multi function steering wheel, it does have the paddles for gear change but no audio buttons. I have looked at a wheel on ebay for 50 pound which is off the same car same year, it has the buttons i want plus the paddles for gear shift... but no air bag..

Can i ask would it be a straight swap with mine or would i need to find other components to make it work in my car. , i would like it to work with my MMi high 2G.

    Thanks.
    Ken

You need to find if your steering control module supports mfsw.

You need somebody with VCDS unless you want to strip some paneling to see the module.

Your going to need VCDS regardless as the SCSM will need to be coded for MFSW. Also it's likely you will need to change the slipring, but again without removing the airbag and checking out the connector on the slipring you won't know if you have the correct one.

You can see on this image all the pins are there, this is MFSW compatible, non-mfsw sliprings are missing some of these pins, and it's not something you can change, you have to buy a new slipring
