    Hi Mick,

My A6 (2004) had a weird pulse that showed in the Rev counter every 10secs approx. All diagnosis was pointing towards either the multi-tronic box or the ECU. I opted to refurb the ECU (ecutesting.com in the UK) as it was the cheaper option. This made some difference but in the end the 'box needed a full refurb.

A good friend (who's a mechanic) pulled out the ECU to send for refurb and said the box didnt need to come out to remove the ECU, although it did need to be refilled with oil when going back in, so I assume he had to drain it at some stage in the process.

I hope it is the ECU for you, the refurb on the 'box cost me €2000.

    Regards,
    Andy

Thanks for the reply buddy, it looks as though the box has been refurbished before I bought it, I'm going to try an oil change and see what happens, it is perfect when cold and has no problems if I drive it using the tiptronic mode it only happens in drive.
