Audi a3 Auto gearbox fault flashing PRNDS

I have an Audi a3 2.0tdi with auto/paddle shift box
Drove it about today no problems, jumped it in after doing about 30 miles and the PRNDS light is flashing on the dash and ill only drive in 1st. also the engine management light is on.

got to my garage and after leaving it for 2 mins all was fine.... took it around the block and the same happened.

My mate said it could be the battery so i had a new one ready to go on..... all seamed good after a short drive then on the way home it happened again.

My mate came over with a non VAG machine and it came up saying TRANSMISSION SOLENOID POWER REPAY MALFUNCTION P1746.

I have searched looking for a fix and everyone says to check the harness routes into the transmission but this never seems to be the problem and cant find anyones fix.

if you can get it scanned with a vcds/vagcom to get an accurate diagnosis.

when was the dsg filter and fluid last changed?

its covered 101k i bought it on 95k

in the service book states 82k

can't really guess without a scan without vagcom/vcds.

hi whats the differance with a Vag code?
I cant drive it as it only drives in 1st

you'll get a more accurate diagnosis than you would with a generic code reader.

i suggest ringing around your local vw/audi independents and see if they will come and read the car.

i rang a local vw audi specialist and they said they wont touch gearboxes??
