I have a 1999 Golf 18gti 20v the problem i have is that when i put the heater on it only blows cold air however hot i put the temperature up to, the car has climate control but this also only blows cold air. Wondered if any one has had the same problem and if anyone has any ideas how to fix it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like either a blocked heater matrix, or a failed actuator.

After a run, carefully have a feel of the pipes in the engine bay as they pass through the bulkhead (the one feeding the matrix).

If there warm, then i'd put it down to an actuator.

    Welcome to the forum mate,

Could also be a stuck flap motor behind the dash only letting in outside air.

If you could get a VAG COM on it, it might tell you the problem.

Mine sometimes sticks on HOT air only, but sorts itself usually next time i use it.

    VAG COM shows.
01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)
    37-00 - Faulty

This is an expensive job to sort but only happens very rarely and a "flap motor reset" using a VAG COM sorts it to.
    Just another B7 Estate
